The Blue Envelope Program

About

Redwood Coast Regional Center and participating partners are proud to offer The Blue Envelope program. The program is designed to promote inclusivity and serve as an enhanced communication awareness tool between law enforcement and community members with a condition or disability such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Anxiety, or other conditions that might require additional accommodations or awareness during a law enforcement interaction.

The program was implemented locally in collaboration between Redwood Coast Regional Center, Rio Dell Police Department, Fort Bragg Police Department, Cal Poly Campus Police, Eureka Police Department, Humboldt Sheriff’s office, Del Norte County Sheriff’s office, Crescent City Police Department and other community partners. RCRC continues to build additional partnerships with Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

How it Works

The Blue Envelope Program provides individuals with the option to display the Blue Envelope logo or present a Blue Envelope when engaging with law enforcement or community service personnel. These Blue Envelope-branded items can contain essential documents, including personal identification, contact information, and important vehicle related paperwork such as registration, proof of insurance and other relevant paperwork.
There is no registry associated with the program, and participation is completely voluntary and self-implemented.
To receive your free Blue Envelope materials, simply visit a participating location or any Redwood Coast Regional Center office.
