FY 2025-26 Language Access and Cultural Competency (LACC) Program

Regional Center (RC): Redwood Coast Regional Center (RCRC)

Project Duration: FY 25/26: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026

Allocation Amount: $341,274.00

Plan Summary: Conduct orientations and technology training classes for the Spanish-speaking and Tribal communities.
• Contract with Project Assistants to conduct outreach and engage with diverse communities across RCRC rural and geographically large catchment area.
• Develop and refine resources (videos, documents, websites, new vendors, etc.) for diverse cultures and languages.
• Hold listening sessions with Native American and Spanish-speaking populations to gather feedback and foster open dialogue.
• Improve accessibility for the focus population by developing, distributing, and analyzing language access surveys.
• Partner with a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Consultant to implement training for Regional Center staff and Board members.
• Provide interpretation and translation services in American Sign Language and Spanish.

01. Provide Translation and Interpretation Services to Meet Diverse Community Needs.
02. Provide Training on RCRC Services and Technology Classes for Spanish and Native American Communities.
03. Conduct Cultural Competency Training for RCRC Staff and Board Members.
04. Conduct Listening Sessions to Gather Underserved Communities’ Feedback to Understand Needs and Determine How to Improve Access to Services.
05. Conduct/Participate in Outreach and Engagement Events Intended to Improve Access to Linguistically and Culturally Appropriate RC Services.
06. Conduct Public Meetings.
07. Conduct Interviews with Individuals from Diverse Backgrounds to Gather Feedback and Insights.
08. Streamline RCs Internal Process for Cultural and Linguistic Translation of Documents.
09. Develop or Refine Resources (Videos, Documents, Websites, New Vendors, etc.) for Difference Cultures and/or Languages.
10. Conduct Orientations for Spanish Speaking and Tribal Communities on Navigating the RC System.
11. Hire a DEI Consultant to Provide Training to Support Tribal, Spanish-Speaking, D/HoH and 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities.
12. Conduct Focus Groups with the Spanish-Speaking and Tribal Communities to Gather Feedback to Improve Access to Services.
13. Establish Partnerships with local Community Based Organizations to Effectively Conduct Outreach and Engagement Activities with Diverse Communities.
